PEER REVIEW PROCESS

JURDAR: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (JPM) implements a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality and scientific validity of every published article. The journal adopts a double-blind review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential to maintain objective evaluation. The review is conducted by experts who possess relevant competence in the article’s subject area, assessing its scientific significance, originality, and relevance to the journal’s aims.

Initial Evaluation:
The editorial team conducts an initial assessment of each manuscript to ensure alignment with the journal’s focus and scope, as well as compliance with publication standards. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria or show more than 25% similarity with other works are immediately rejected. The team also verifies the manuscript’s formatting and citation style according to the author guidelines. Noncompliant manuscripts are returned for correction and may be resubmitted after revision. Manuscripts that pass this stage proceed to the peer review process.

Reviewer Assignment:
The editorial board appoints at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant subject area. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. The selection of reviewers considers their academic expertise, institutional independence from the authors, and potential conflicts of interest. The reviewer appointment process is targeted to be completed within four weeks.

Review Process:
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript’s scientific rigor, originality, validity, and relevance to the field of community service. The review is typically completed within two weeks. Reviewers provide detailed feedback to help authors improve their manuscripts and recommend whether the paper should be accepted, revised, or rejected.

Editorial Decision:
The final decision—acceptance, revision, or rejection—is made by the editor-in-chief based on the reviewers’ feedback and compliance with publication standards. If there are significant differences in reviewer opinions, an additional reviewer may be assigned. The editor’s decision and anonymous reviewer comments are communicated to the authors. The first decision is generally issued within one month, and accepted articles are published within 4–8 weeks after acceptance.

Revision Stage:
Authors required to revise their manuscripts must incorporate the reviewers’ feedback and submit a revised version along with a response letter explaining the changes made. The revision deadline is two weeks for minor revisions and four weeks for major revisions. Manuscripts with major revisions are re-evaluated by the original reviewers to confirm the adequacy of the changes.

Final Steps to Publication:
Accepted manuscripts, once finalized, undergo copyediting and formatting prior to publication.

Through this rigorous peer review process, JURDAR: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (JPM) is committed to publishing scholarly works of high academic integrity, relevance, and meaningful contribution to the development of community engagement in the field of law.
