Peer Review Process
Al-Balad: Jurnal Hukum Tata Negara dan Politik Islam applies strict peer review procedures to ensure the excellence and validity of published research. This process is double-blind, ensuring anonymity for both authors and reviewers. Experts in the relevant field carry out the review, assessing the manuscript based on its scientific significance, innovation, and relevance to the journal's objectives.
1. Preliminary Assessment: The editorial team initially reviews each manuscript to ensure that it fits the journal's focus and meets publication standards. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria or show more than 25% similarity to existing works will be immediately rejected. The team also checked the citation format and style according to the author's guidelines. Manuscripts that do not comply are returned for correction and resubmission. Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial examination proceed to the peer review stage.
2. Selection of Reviewers: The editorial board identifies at least two independent reviewers who are knowledgeable in the field of the manuscript and experienced in related research. Reviewers and authors remain anonymous to each other. The editorial board ensures that reviewers come from different institutions than the authors, considers their scientific expertise and potential conflicts of interest before inviting them to conduct a review. The aim is to appoint a reviewer within four weeks.
3. Evaluation Process: Reviewers assess the scientific rigor, originality, validity, and relevance of the manuscript to the field, usually within two weeks. They provide detailed feedback to the author to improve the manuscript, with recommendations for acceptance, revision, or rejection.
4. Editorial Decision: The decision to accept, reject, or request revision is made by the editor-in-chief based on reviewer feedback and compliance with publication standards. If reviewers' opinions differ significantly, additional reviewers may be consulted. Editorial decisions and anonymous reviewer comments are communicated to the author. The goal is to issue a first decision within one month and to publish accepted manuscripts within 4 to 8 weeks of acceptance.
5. Revision Stage: Authors whose manuscript requires revision should integrate the suggested changes and resubmit a revised version, highlighting the changes and including a letter responding to the feedback. The deadline for revisions is two weeks for minor changes and four weeks for major changes. Manuscripts with major revisions are re-evaluated by the original reviewer to ensure the effectiveness of the revisions.
6. Final Steps to Publication: Accepted manuscripts must be submitted in their final form for editing and formatting before publication.
Through this rigorous peer review process, Al-Balad: Journal of Constitutional Law and Islamic Politics ensures the publication of research that meets the highest standards of scientific integrity and quality.
